The SyuRo store in Tokyo’s Taito Ward creates a warm feeling among its clientele. The household goods that line the shelves were selected and designed by owner Masuko Unayama and brought to life by the best local craftsmen in their respective fields. Ms. Unayama describes the works as a “combination of craftsmen and a contemporary vision,” with SyuRo bridging the gap between craftsmen and user.
The elegant key tray Ms. Unayama designed for CRAFTED FOR LEXUS was brought to life by Soutatsu Kamikawa of Nisshin Kikinzoku, a company that continues the tradition of Tokyo silverware. The methodical hammer technique employed leaves faint marks, which add to its charm.
